For My Child Learning Center, a division of Unitech Training Academy, is a skills-based and center-structured early learning environment guided by developmentally appropriate practices.  The Center exists both to enrich and to expand a child’s learning experience while meeting parent’s needs for high-quality childcare. Job Description:

  • Responsible for assisting with the day-to-day management and operations of the For My Child Learning Center in Alexandria, Louisiana.  This includes assisting with supervision, maintenance of administrative records at the center, enrollment and waiting lists, child care licensing, tuition processing and ongoing quality assurance at the center.

  • Provide ongoing instructional coaching for all teaching staff  and volunteers as it relates to school readiness and the ongoing, high-quality interactions with children and parents.   

  • Ensure daily lesson plans and activities are aligned with the Louisiana Birth-to-Five Early Learning Standards and implemented with fidelity by all teaching staff.

  • Ensure that teachers use an observation-based assessment tool to measure ongoing progression of children as they develop and learn.

  • Guide coaching practices through informed data-driven decisions with CLASS, Teaching Strategies GOLD checkpoints, and the Louisiana Birth-to-Five Early Learning Standards.

  • Assist in the tracking of child attendance in accordance with licensing regulations.

  • Communicate transparently with Center Director regarding all operational procedures, communication with parents, children’s growth and development, updates on the ongoing coaching process, and licensing requirements.  

  • Participate in CACFP Food Program duties and monthly staff meetings.

  • Other duties, as assigned by center director.

Qualifications:

The Assistant Director/Instructional Coach must have at least one of the following education/experience combinations:

  • A  bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with at least 12 credit hours of child development or early childhood education or elementary education or a related field, and at least one year of high-quality teaching experience in a licensed early learning center or comparable setting;

  • An Early Childhood Ancillary Teaching Certificate approved by the Louisiana Department of Education.

  • An associate of arts degree in child development or a closely related area, and at least two years of high-quality teaching experience in a licensed early learning center, or comparable setting;

  • A national administrator credential and at least two years of high-quality teaching experience in a licensed early learning center, or comparable setting, plus 6 credit hours in child care, child development or early childhood or 90 clock hours of training in child care, child development or early childhood;

  • A child development associate credential (CDA) and at least three years of high-quality teaching experience in a licensed early learning center, or comparable setting;

  • A diploma from a post-secondary technical early childhood education training program approved by the Board of Regents or correspondence course approved by the Licensing Division and at least five years of experience in a licensed early learning center, or comparable setting; or

  • Three years of experience as a director or staff in a licensed early learning center, or comparable setting plus 6 credit hours in child care, child development or early childhood education, or 90 clock hours of training approved by the Licensing Division. Up to 3 credit hours or 45 clock hours may be in management/administration education.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to provide positive and constructive feedback to teaching staff and volunteers in a nonthreatening way.

  • Must be attentive to children and parents needs at all times.

  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced child care setting and be knowledgeable of computers, particularly operation of child care management software.

  • Though not required, it is highly recommended that applicants are reliable or familiar with the CLASS observation tool (infant, toddler, and/or prek) and experienced or familiar with Teaching Strategies GOLD.

Special Considerations:

Employees within this classification are required to:

  • Meet the minimum age requirement of 21.

  • Pass an initial Criminal Background Check and complete a State Central Registry.  

  • Maintain a current First Aid and CPR certification.

  • Occasionally stand, stoop, bend, reach and lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Occasionally kneel, stoop, bend and sit on the floor to attend to children’s needs.

  • Perform duties in an active environment with changes in climate and noise level.
