For My Child Learning Center is a skills-based and center-structured early learning environment guided by developmentally appropriate practices.  The Center exists both to enrich and to expand a child’s learning experience while meeting parent’s needs for high-quality childcare. Job Description:

  • Provide a safe, nurturing and responsive environment that stimulates the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of infants and toddlers.

  • Develop individual goals for infants and toddlers, document ongoing assessment of progress and facilitate transition.

  • Develop lesson plans and activities that are aligned with the Louisiana Birth-to-Five Early Learning Standards.

  • Follow a consistent schedule, which includes small and large motor activities, skill development, meals, and effective transitions between activities.

  • Provide high-quality interactions that maximize child development and involvement.

  • Actively supervise infants and toddlers at all times and always maintain the appropriate staff –to- child ratio, whether with an infant group, toddler group, or mixed age group.

  • Communicate daily with parents regarding the milestones and activities of their child.

  • Detect and report signs of illness, discomfort and unusual behavior of children.

  • Report any safety hazards observed indoors or outdoors.   

  • Use data from CLASS, Teaching Strategies GOLD, and the Louisiana Birth-to-Five Early Learning Standards to guide ongoing high-quality interactions with infants and toddlers.

  • Communicate transparently with the Center Director and Assistant Director/Instructional Coach regarding parent communication, children’s growth and development and updates on licensing documentation (i.e. externally approved clock hours, paperwork for physical exams, TB, etc).   

  • Participate in monthly staff meetings.

  • Ensure that personal care needs are met for all infants and toddlers  (i.e. feeding, diapering, toileting, rest, etc).

  • Other duties, as assigned by Center Director or Assistant Director/Instructional Coach.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency certificate (GED) and one of the following highly recommended combinations:

  • At least one year experience in a part-day or full-day program for infants and toddlers with a minimum of 15 clock hours in approved core knowledge and a commitment to complete a Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate OR a technical diploma in an early childhood related field within 18 months of hire date.  

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate in Infant/Toddler and at least one year experience teaching in a part-day or full-day program for infants and toddlers;

  • A technical diploma or certificate of technical studies in an early childhood related field

    from an accredited technical or community college and at least one year experience teaching in a part-day or full-day program for infants and toddlers;

  • A career diploma that has been recognized by the Louisiana Pathways Career

    Development System and at least one year experience teaching in a part-day or full-day program for infants and toddlers ;

  • An associate degree in an early childhood related field from a regionally accredited

    college or university and at least one year of experience teaching in a part-day or full-day program for infants and toddlers; or

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in an early childhood related field from a regionally accredited college or university.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be a team player, have a love for children and a great personality.

  • Must be attentive to children and parents needs at all times.

  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced child care setting.

 

Special Considerations:

Employees within this classification are required to:

  • Meet the minimum age requirement of 18.

  • Pass an initial Criminal Background Check and complete a State Central Registry.

  • Maintain a current First Aid and CPR certification.

  • Frequently stand, stoop, bend, reach and lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Frequently kneel, stoop, bend and sit on the floor to attend to children’s needs.

  • Perform duties in an active environment with changes in climate and noise level.
